Frequently asked questions.

FAQS

I’m new to pilates, where should I begin?

Roc offers a variety of ways to start. We have Beginner Reformer and Beginner Tower classes to learn the basics in a small group setting.

Mat Classes are multi-level and don’t use the equipment, just bodyweight only. Learning matwork is a big part of all our services.

Private lessons are another great introduction to our studio. Having that one on one attention will give you insight into your body and give you a taste of being on the Cadillac, Reformer, Mat and Chairs. They’re a great way to prep for classes but also the best way to accelerate your progress since the focus will be only on you.

The Introductory Pack is perfect for clients new to Roc Pilates who want more than a single private to start. With three private lessons you will learn about the equipment, what things are called, the foundational movements we will build upon and general Pilates techniques. This is great if you want to prepare for group classes or if you’re experiencing some issues with your body and need individualized attention.

Whichever choice you make, you will begin moving right away!

Who Should Take Private Lessons?

Private Lessons are ideal for the strong beginner to the experienced Pilates practitioner so you can fully explore the Pilates Method as intended by Joseph Pilates. Over time you will become familiar with all the apparatus and how the method interconnects throughout the work on all the equipment throughout the studio.. Private lessons are also designed for any conditions or issues to move slower and focus on restorative movement. If you have any pain, privates lessons are a must.

If you are in good shape, feel free to sign up for any of our Mat, Reformer or Tower classes but if you’re body is tight, if you have not been moving/exercising in some time or in general need of a slower environment to restart your fitness routine, please come in privately first.

What if I have pain or injuries?

We encourage our attendees to restrain from attending any classes if you have any pain or injuries. Classes are not an environment to work on on one with the teachers. In classes everyone mainly stays together with some modifications offered. But when it comes to pain, medical conditions, injuries or physical limitations private lessons are highly recommended.

Why no grip socks or Sticky Socks?

We do not recommend sticky socks for Classical Pilates. We want you to connect with your feet and know what your feet are doing/learn how to use them. Sticky socks are also hard on our apparatus.

tell me more about pilates!

Joseph Pilates called his method Contrology. The method includes all the apparatus in the studio. We encourage our clients to do a combination of classes and privates to learn the method. We look forward to teaching them to you

Operating since 2017, Roc Pilates takes a classical approach to pilates based upon the original, revolutionary method of Joseph Pilates called “Contrology.”

ROC Pilates is inspired by Joe and the Pilates Elders including today’s masters Jillian Hessel, Jerome Weinberg and Bob Liekens.

The Studio is fully equipped with classical apparatus, focused on individual needs and small group classes.
